I attended a Baha'i Feast last week, which is when members of the Bah'ai Faith gather for a 'spiritual' feast. (more info available at the 'Baha'i Faith' website in the 'Links I Like' section on the left of the screen). The committee for the devotional portion of the program had created a very soothing environment and I was grateful to be there - and was inspired to write the poem that follows below. Enjoy!
Petals on the Floor
By K.A. Duffin
03NOV10
Scent of roses whispers welcome
Piano recording plays empty handed
Open for greeting and receiving
thoughts, wishes, dreams, prayers
plentiful
as the petals on the floor
Smiling faces offer subtle greeting
Words from friends old and new
Cheer and warm us from the fall
Kindness, love, acceptance, patience
plentiful
as the petals on the floor
Dim light offers calm refuge
Circular seating - room for all
Embracing those present and more
Space, company, comfort, safety
plentiful
as the petals on the floor
We too will bloom and fade
The light will shine and fade
The music will ebb and fade
as we eventually join
petals on the floor
